Shopify developer in Mumbai, for Indian D2C.
Custom OS 2.0 themes, Razorpay and UPI checkout that does not leak, product schema done properly, and migrations that keep the rankings. Built to rank as well as to convert.

What I do / 02
Six pieces of
storefront work.
Themes, payments, SEO, speed, migrations and headless. If you need a first store live cheaply rather than a custom build, my agency ships ecommerce websites at fixed prices.
-
01
Custom OS 2.0 themes
Online Store 2.0 themes on Liquid and JSON templates — sections everywhere, metafields wired properly, and merchandising your team can actually change in the theme editor without asking a developer for a banner swap.
-
02
Indian payments & GST
Razorpay, Shopify Payments, UPI, COD with verification, and GST-compliant invoicing configured rather than bolted on. Half the abandoned-cart problem on Indian stores is a checkout that does not offer the way the customer wants to pay.
-
03
Store SEO & schema
Collection architecture, faceted-navigation control, canonical hygiene across variants, and Product plus Offer plus Review markup. Shopify gives you a clean base and then leaves several ranking-critical defaults wrong — those are the ones I fix.
-
04
Speed & conversion work
App audit, theme JS budget, image and font pipeline, LCP on the product template, and the PDP layout decisions that move add-to-cart. Every installed app costs milliseconds; most stores are carrying four they stopped using a year ago.
-
05
Migrations to Shopify
WooCommerce, Magento or a custom cart to Shopify. Products, variants, customers, orders and — the part most migrations skip — a redirect map for every old URL, so the rankings and the backlinks survive the replatform.
-
06
Headless & Hydrogen
Hydrogen and Oxygen storefronts, or Shopify as a commerce back end behind an Astro front end. Worth it when content and commerce need to live together at speed. Not worth it just to have it — I will tell you which case you are.
Who it is for / 03
Four kinds of store.
Indian D2C brands past the launch phase
Selling steadily on a bought theme, now blocked by page speed, collection structure, or a checkout that leaks. The next revenue step is technical, not another Instagram push.
Brands replatforming onto Shopify
Moving off WooCommerce or Magento because maintenance is eating the margin. The migration is winnable — but only with a real redirect map and a content equivalence audit.
Stores that need content and commerce
Brands where editorial, education, or SEO content drives the sale. Usually a headless or hybrid build, so the content ranks and the store still converts.
Teams inheriting a broken store
A theme customised by four developers, thirty apps installed, and nobody sure what breaks if one is removed. Audit first, prioritised fixes second, rebuild only if it is genuinely cheaper.
The honest bit / 04
Shopify is fast until you decorate it.
The platform gives you a clean, fast, well-hosted base. Then thirty apps, a hero video, and three review widgets arrive — and the store that used to load in one second loads in five. Most of my Shopify work is subtraction.
— Apps
Every app you install writes into your theme
Uninstalling an app often leaves its script tags behind, so stores carry code for tools they stopped paying for. The app audit is usually the single highest-return hour of a Shopify engagement.
— Crawl waste
Collection filters generate thousands of near-duplicate URLs
Faceted navigation left unmanaged spends your crawl budget on parameter permutations instead of the product pages that sell. Canonical and robots handling for filters is a build decision, not a plugin toggle.
— Thin collections
Your collection pages are the ones that can rank, and they say nothing
Category-level queries carry the commercial intent, but default collection pages are a grid with a title. Real copy, internal links, FAQ blocks and complete Product markup are what turn them into landing pages that earn traffic.

01
Scope call
Forty-five minutes. I look at the store live — theme, app list, PDP, checkout, collection structure, Search Console — and give you an honest read on whether this is tuning, a re-theme, or a migration.
-
02
Fixed-scope proposal
Within five working days: phases, milestones, deliverables, fixed fee. No hourly billing. Integration list and app decisions are named in the document so nothing arrives as a surprise line later.
-
03
Build sprints
Two-week sprints on a development store or a duplicated theme, never on your live one. Weekly review with the founder or the growth lead. Preview link from day three.
-
04
Launch & handoff
Pre-launch checklist, redirect testing, checkout run-throughs across payment methods, Lighthouse pass, schema validation. Two weeks of post-launch monitoring, then documentation for your team.
Want a published price rather than a scoped proposal, or a team rather than one developer? My agency packages Shopify delivery — launch stores from ₹50,000, custom themes from ₹1,25,000, Plus and headless from ₹3,00,000.
FAQ / 06
Shopify questions, answered.
- Do you build custom Shopify themes or customise existing ones? +
- Both, and the honest answer is that most brands should start with a well-chosen theme configured properly. A custom Online Store 2.0 theme earns its cost when your merchandising or PDP logic is genuinely unusual, or when the brand design bar is high enough that a stock theme visibly caps it. If a bought theme will do the job, I will say so on the call rather than sell you the bigger build.
- Will my store work with Razorpay, UPI and COD? +
- Yes. Razorpay, Shopify Payments, UPI, netbanking and COD with verification, plus GST-compliant invoicing and the shipping logic to match. This matters more than most founders expect: on Indian stores a large share of the abandoned-cart problem is simply a checkout that does not offer the payment method the customer intended to use.
- Can you migrate my WooCommerce or Magento store to Shopify? +
- Yes — products, variants, customers, order history, and content. The part that decides whether the migration is a success is the redirect map: every old product, collection and blog URL mapped to its new home before launch, plus a content equivalence audit so you are not quietly shipping thinner pages. Migrations that lose rankings almost always lost them here, not in the theme.
- Why is my Shopify store slow? +
- Usually apps. Every installed app injects scripts into your theme, and most stores carry several they stopped using months ago — including ones that keep loading after being "removed". After that: oversized hero images, third-party fonts, and review or chat widgets loading before the product image. I profile the store and give you the ranked list rather than guessing at a rebuild.
- Does Shopify handle SEO properly out of the box? +
- Partly. The base is clean and fast, but several ranking-relevant defaults need fixing: variant and paginated URL canonicals, collection filter URLs generating crawlable duplicates, thin default collection pages, and incomplete Product and Offer markup. Structured data matters more every year — 71% of pages ChatGPT cites carry it (Ahrefs) — so schema is part of the build, not an add-on.
- Should I go headless with Hydrogen? +
- Only for a specific reason: heavy content-plus-commerce needs, an unusual storefront experience, or performance requirements a Liquid theme genuinely cannot meet. Headless adds real engineering cost and removes some of the theme-editor convenience your team relies on. For most Indian D2C brands under a few crore in revenue, a well-built OS 2.0 theme is the better call and I will say so.
- How long does a Shopify build take? +
- Configured launch store: two to three weeks. Custom OS 2.0 theme: six to ten weeks. Migration: four to eight weeks depending on catalogue and URL count. Headless or Plus builds: eight to twelve weeks. Speed and conversion engagements: two to three weeks. Exact dates get confirmed in the written proposal.
- What does it cost? +
- Quoted as a fixed fee against a written scope after the call — catalogue size, integrations and theme decisions set the number. If you want published prices before you get on a call, my agency packages Shopify work: launch stores from ₹50,000, custom themes from ₹1,25,000, and Shopify Plus or headless builds from ₹3,00,000. Those numbers are on the page and the same for everyone.
Send the store URL. I will open it before we talk.
Theme, app list, PDP, checkout, collection structure — I read all of it before the call, then tell you whether the next win is tuning, a re-theme, or a migration. Fixed-scope proposal within five working days. For packaged delivery with published rates, my agency handles Shopify builds from ₹50,000.
