Top freelancers in Mumbai: SEO, marketing & web, compared (2026)
I went through the public footprint of every freelancer I could find marketing to Mumbai — sites, reviews, credentials, portfolios — and ranked them against a fixed set of criteria, split by what you're actually hiring for. Full sourcing, honest caveats, and where I land on my own list.
Search “SEO expert in Mumbai” and you get a wall of near-identical landing pages, each claiming to be the top result. Almost none of them tell you how they got there, or point you toward anyone else worth considering.
I wanted to see what the market actually looks like if you strip the claims down to what’s publicly checkable — real names, real sites, real reviews, real portfolios — instead of taking anyone’s homepage at face value. So I built a fixed set of criteria, ran it against every Mumbai-facing freelancer I could find, and ranked the result.
Most “best SEO expert” lists are one person’s opinion dressed up as research. This one shows its work.
A transparency note before you read further: I’m one of the eleven people on this list, ranked using the same criteria as everyone else. This is my own research and judgment call — one practitioner’s honest read of the Mumbai freelance market, cross-checked against public sources — not a neutral third-party audit. I’ve placed myself where the evidence puts me, including the places I rank behind someone else, and I’d rather you know that going in than pretend this is more objective than it is.
Start here: what are you actually hiring for?
Most “best freelancer” lists lump three different jobs together. They aren’t the same hire, and the right person changes depending on which one you need:
| If you need… | You want a… | Jump to |
|---|---|---|
| Rankings, traffic, Google Business Profile | SEO specialist | SEO freelancers |
| SEO + paid + social + content, run together | Full-funnel marketer | Digital marketing freelancers |
| A website or web app built or rebuilt | Web developer / designer | Web & design freelancers |
A few names appear in more than one section. That’s not padding — it reflects people who genuinely work across disciplines, and I’ve said what each is strongest at rather than repeating the same paragraph.
How I built this ranking
I scored each person on seven public signals, weighted by how hard they are to fake:
| Signal | Weight | What I looked at |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile / local-pack presence | 25% | Star rating, review count and recency, map-pack visibility |
| Domain & content authority | 20% | Own site, original content depth, personal-brand footprint |
| Demonstrated tenure | 15% | Years actively practicing, consistency of the public trail |
| Portfolio depth | 15% | Named clients, case studies, visible project history |
| Credentials | 10% | Certifications, verifiable qualifications |
| Social footprint | 10% | LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube activity |
| Category relevance | 5% | How specific the positioning is to the discipline |
Before anyone made the list at all, I checked for the basics that separate a real practitioner from a thin marketing shell: a named individual with a consistent identity across platforms, an owned site with substantive content, some kind of demonstrable portfolio, at least one form of third-party validation (reviews, directory listings, a teaching platform, an employment history), a transparent location, and verifiable credentials where any are claimed. Where one of those was missing or weak, I’ve said so plainly below rather than smoothing it over — that’s what keeps a list like this useful.
Anything I couldn’t independently verify is marked (unverified) — mostly figures that only appear on the person’s own site. Competitor profiles here are meant to be factual and non-disparaging; any performance claim (“1,100+ clients,” “260+ projects”) is repeated as a marketing claim, not confirmed by me. Primary sources are each freelancer’s own site plus whatever public profile exists (LinkedIn, Justdial, Behance, Medium, Udemy), checked in July 2026.
SEO freelancers in Mumbai
For when the job is rankings, organic traffic, local pack visibility, and technical search work specifically.
1. Anand Kumar Jha (“Anandkjha™”)
Freelance SEO & PPC consultant with an AI-SEO/GEO focus, based in Chandigarh, reaching Mumbai through a dedicated landing page. States he’s worked in SEO since 2012 and with 1,100+ small businesses and startups (unverified). Google-certified; his site mentions coverage in Deccan Herald and Outlook India (unverified).
What put him at #1: the deepest, most extensive SEO content library on this list, an active Udemy instructor profile, and ongoing Medium publishing — teaching in public under your own name for over a decade is a hard signal to fake, and it’s more corroboration than almost anyone else here has.
Worth knowing: he’s Chandigarh-based rather than Mumbai-local, so if being reachable in person matters to you, that’s a real trade-off against his content depth.

2. Shezad Ali Khan (that’s me) — SEO
Digital marketing consultant, SEO expert, and government-certified trainer, based in Jogeshwari West / Andheri, 12+ years in. Certified Trainer under Skill India / NSDC (NSQF Level 6); diplomas in Web Development, Graphic Design, and Digital Marketing; program lead at IIDE. My site lists 88+ sites shipped across 14+ industries and 3 countries, and shows a self-reported 5.0★ across 30 Google reviews.
Where this puts me: the strongest verifiable local signal set among the Mumbai-based names here — a government-issued teaching credential, named-institution ties (IIDE, plus guest lectures at Hinduja, Thakur, and Pillai colleges), and a documented project portfolio. I’m behind Jha mainly on sheer SEO-content volume and years specializing in SEO alone rather than the broader consulting/training mix.

3. Chetan Digital
Freelance SEO & web developer based in Ghatkopar West. His homepage cites 150+ projects; a Zipleaf directory listing cites 260+ — the kind of number that drifts between profiles and isn’t worth reading much into on its own. Real, checkable Ghatkopar address and an independent directory presence beyond his own site.
Site: chetandigital.com · Zipleaf listing
4. Nimesh Barai (“The Digi Expert”)
SEO/PPC freelancer, 7+ years, Mumbai. A clean, single-service personal brand rather than generic filler copy, which reads as a real specialist. I couldn’t independently verify review counts or client volume — that’s the main open question here rather than any red flag.
Site: thedigiexpert.in
5. Dipesh Pednekar
SEO & digital marketing freelancer, 7 years, Parel. Google Ads and Analytics certified. His public LinkedIn work history lines up with what his site claims — site-plus-LinkedIn consistency is exactly the kind of cross-platform corroboration this kind of check looks for.
Site: dipeshpednekar.com · LinkedIn
6. Mahendar Prajapati (“Mahendar Digital”)
SEO/SEM freelancer, roughly 5 years, based in the greater Mumbai / MMR area (Bhiwandi). Holds an MBA. His site names specific B2B clients — Ashida Electronics, Goma Engineering, Uni Abex (unverified) — and named clients are a stronger portfolio signal than anonymous testimonials, even unverified ones. Worth knowing: Bhiwandi/greater-MMR rather than central Mumbai.
Site: mahendardigital.com
7. “SEO Ads Expert” (individual not named on the site)
Independent SEO freelancer marketing to Mumbai. The content itself is genuinely strong and local-SEO-literate — Google Business Profile optimisation, citation building, “near me” targeting are all covered with real specificity.
Worth knowing, and the reason this one sits last: I couldn’t find a named individual behind the site. That doesn’t mean the work isn’t competent — the content suggests otherwise — but it does mean you’re hiring without knowing exactly who you’d be working with, which is worth asking about directly before you sign anything.

8. Dhana Sekaran (“Digital With Dhana”)
SEO and AI-SEO specialist, roughly 2.5 years in, founder of Pixel Loom Digital, marketing toward Andheri/Borivali. A named founder of a named company, with original AI-SEO content that reads as current rather than templated. Ranks last mainly on the shorter track record, and the fact that the primary operating base looks to be Chennai/Tuticorin rather than Mumbai.

Digital marketing freelancers in Mumbai
For when the job is full-funnel — SEO, paid media, social and content run together rather than as separate hires. The weighting shifts here: paid-media evidence and breadth matter more than pure search depth.
1. Shezad Ali Khan (that’s me) — full-funnel
The full-funnel brief is where the training and consulting background counts for more than it does on a pure-SEO job: 12+ years across SEO, paid, content and web, a government-issued teaching credential, and the institutional ties above. Same profile as in the SEO section — it simply ranks higher against these criteria than against pure-SEO ones.
Site: shezadalikhan.com · Services
2. Dipesh Pednekar
Seven years across SEO and broader digital marketing, Parel, Google Ads and Analytics certified. The certifications carry more weight in a full-funnel brief than a pure-SEO one, and the LinkedIn-to-site consistency still holds up.
Site: dipeshpednekar.com · LinkedIn
3. Chetan Digital
The SEO-plus-web-development combination makes him a reasonable full-funnel option for a smaller brief, with the same checkable Ghatkopar base and independent directory presence.
Site: chetandigital.com
4. Manav Hansrajani
Performance-marketing freelancer based in Andheri West, an alumnus of the DGmark Institute, with an active blog that demonstrates real, specific paid-media knowledge rather than generic advice. If paid media is the centre of your brief rather than search, he’s arguably the most focused option on this page.
Worth knowing: some of his work runs through a small studio-style setup rather than as a strictly solo operator — worth asking about scope and who you’d actually be working with when you enquire.
Site: manavhansrajani.com
5. Mahendar Prajapati (“Mahendar Digital”)
Roughly 5 years across SEO, SEM, SMM, and graphic design, greater Mumbai / MMR. MBA, and the named B2B clients (Ashida Electronics, Goma Engineering, Uni Abex — unverified) apply here too. The breadth suits a full-funnel brief better than a specialist one.
Site: mahendardigital.com
6. Nimesh Barai (“The Digi Expert”)
The SEO/PPC pairing covers the two highest-intent channels, though the positioning is narrower than a true full-funnel offering. Same open question on unverifiable review counts.
Site: thedigiexpert.in
7. Aditya Ambruskar
Digital marketing freelancer working across the standard channel mix. A real named individual with a consistent public identity, though with a thinner verifiable trail — fewer third-party corroborating signals than most others on this page, which is what places him here rather than any specific concern.
8. Dhana Sekaran (“Digital With Dhana”)
Digital marketing and AI strategist, roughly 2.5 years in. A named founder with current, AI-forward content — credible, but the shorter tenure compared to others here is why this one sits at #8.
Site: digitalwithdhana.com
Web and design freelancers in Mumbai
For when the job is building or rebuilding the site itself. Portfolio evidence you can actually look at matters much more here than it does for marketing work.
1. Ronak Bagadia
Freelance web developer and designer, 13+ years, based in Kandivali West, and founder of Stymeta Technologies. His Behance profile states 13+ years and 200+ brands; his site states 500+ projects. He also carries a third-party rating — Justdial 5.0 (from 4 ratings).
What puts him at #1: the most independently corroborated profile on this list. An active Behance portfolio (you can go look at the actual work), a third-party Justdial rating rather than a self-reported one, stated education (MS from Texas Tech; B.E-IT from University of Mumbai — as listed on his profile, unverified by me), and freelance-marketplace listings beyond his own site. Multiple independent platforms confirming the same identity is about as strong as this kind of check gets.
Worth knowing: he’s also the founder of a company (Stymeta), so larger engagements may run through a small team rather than purely solo — worth clarifying scope when you enquire.
Site: ronakbagadia.com · Behance · about.me · Justdial listing
2. Shezad Ali Khan (that’s me) — web
88+ sites shipped across 14+ industries and 3 countries, with a Diploma in Web Development alongside the marketing credentials. The specific case here is that I build and market the same site — SEO gets designed into the structure rather than retrofitted. I’m behind Ronak on pure design-portfolio depth and independent corroboration, which is what a design-led brief should weight most.
Site: shezadalikhan.com · Work · Web development
3. Chetan Digital
The SEO-and-web-development combination again, useful if you want the build and the search work from one person on a smaller project.
Site: chetandigital.com
4. Anand Kumar Jha (“Anandkjha™”)
Primarily an SEO specialist rather than a builder, but included here because SEO-aware development is a genuine sub-brief — worth considering if the rebuild is being driven by a search problem rather than a design one. Chandigarh-based.
Site: anandkjha.com
5. Mahendar Prajapati (“Mahendar Digital”)
Graphic design sits alongside the SEO/SEM work, which makes him a fit for smaller design-plus-marketing briefs rather than substantial development projects. Greater Mumbai / MMR.
Site: mahendardigital.com
6. Aditya Ambruskar
Works across digital delivery including web. Same caveat as above — a thinner verifiable public trail than most others here, so ask to see a portfolio directly.
Where I honestly land
Three different lists, three different placements, and I think each is accurate:
- SEO: #2. My local signal set — reviews, credential, institutional ties — is as strong as anyone’s here, but Anand Kumar Jha has more years focused purely on SEO and a larger body of public SEO writing. If you want the deepest pure-SEO specialist regardless of location, he’s the stronger case.
- Digital marketing: #1. Breadth across SEO, paid, content and web plus the training background is exactly what this brief weights, and it’s where I’m most confident in the placement.
- Web & design: #2. Ronak Bagadia has more design-portfolio depth and better independent corroboration than I do. On a design-led build, he’s the stronger hire.
If those three placements look self-serving, the honest test is the second one: I’ve put someone else first on two of the three lists, including the discipline this site ranks for.
Why some people choose me anyway
Among the Mumbai-based names here, mine is the only public profile combining a government-issued teaching credential, a displayed 5.0★ / 30-review Google profile, 12+ years, and direct freelance access with no agency layer in between. Because I also build the sites I optimise, SEO gets designed in from the structure up rather than bolted on afterward — that’s the specific case for hiring me, separate from where I land in any ranking above.
Before you hire anyone
Whichever way you go, the same three checks apply, and they take about ten minutes:
- Ask who does the work. Several people here run small teams. Neither answer is wrong — but you should know before you sign, not after.
- Verify one claim yourself. Pick any number from their site and try to corroborate it independently. How they respond when asked tells you more than the number does.
- Get scope in writing. Not deliverables — scope. What happens when the brief changes is where most freelance engagements actually go wrong.
If you’re mainly trying to work out budget before you talk to anyone, what digital marketing actually costs in Mumbai has the rate ranges, and how to tell if your SEO agency is doing anything covers what to look for once someone is engaged. The full vetting process — questions, red flags, and rate tables — is in how to hire an SEO freelancer in Mumbai. And if everyone on this page is the wrong shape because you need a team, start with the agency-vs-freelancer comparison.
Worth repeating before you act on any of this
Google Business Profile figures shown here — including my own 5.0★/30 and directory ratings quoted elsewhere on this page — are as presented on each person’s own channel, not something I confirmed against live Google Maps data. Rankings reflect public signals as I could observe them, not an endorsement of anyone’s actual client results; any outcome someone claims is a marketing claim until you verify it yourself. Links can go stale — check that a site still resolves before you rely on anything here. Everything above reflects public information as of 31 July 2026; treat it as a snapshot, not a live feed.
